Swedish Journalist Joakim Medin Arrested in Turkey

A Swedish journalist, Joakim Medin, has been arrested by Turkish authorities on March 27 at Istanbul airport. He is accused of belonging to an armed terrorist organization and insulting the president. Medin’s arrest follows a wave of protests in Istanbul over the detention of opposition leader Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was also charged with corruption. The unrest is seen as a challenge to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s leadership.
