A new device called Swippitt is set to eliminate the frustration of running out of phone battery. This toaster-sized unit, unveiled at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, contains five batteries that can be swapped instantaneously with a dead one inside your phone’s case. Simply insert your phone into the top of the Swippitt Hub and it will automatically replace the battery.
The device aims to provide convenience for families with multiple phones, eliminating the need to wait for charging or carry power banks. An accompanying app allows parents to track their children’s phone battery levels, reducing anxiety over running out of battery when away from home.
Swippitt requires each phone to have a dedicated case (or “Link”) before it can be inserted into the Hub. The company initially plans to produce cases for iPhone and Samsung Galaxy handsets, with Google Pixel cases also in development. Each battery has a capacity of 3,500mAh, providing an extra 50-90% battery life depending on the phone model.
The Hub automatically sorts batteries by charge percentage to prevent users from getting a flat battery swapped back into their case. The Link case features a USB-C socket for charging both the phone’s battery and the Swippitt battery when away from home.
Swippitt aims to make its devices so ubiquitous that you can swap batteries at any location, including friends’ homes or workplaces. To promote sustainability, the company will have a system for replacing and recycling batteries that reach the end of their life cycle.
The Swippitt Hub is priced at $450, with each Link costing $125. The device is expected to start shipping in June, available in two colors: black and white.
