Switch 2 Specs Leaked at CES

Nintendo’s next-generation console, the Switch 2, has been the subject of much speculation, but until now, the company has remained tight-lipped about its release date and specs. However, recent leaks at CES have provided some insight into what to expect.

According to French outlet Numerama, Genki, an accessory manufacturer, revealed a May 2025 release date for the Switch 2 during their presentation at CES. This aligns with Nintendo’s promise to discuss its next-gen console before the end of March. The original Switch also had a two-month gap between its reveal and release in 2017.

Genki has also produced a detailed animation showcasing the design and accessories for the Switch 2, including magnetically attached Joy-Cons with a release button near the triggers. This confirms earlier speculation about the new controllers.

Additionally, Digital Foundry has analyzed the rumored specs of the Switch 2, debunking claims that it will match PS4 Pro performance. Instead, they discuss the processor’s potential manufacturing process and battery capacity.

One thing Nintendo has confirmed is that the Switch 2 will be backwards-compatible with its predecessor, and it plans to produce enough units to deter scalpers. While no official release date has been announced yet, a May 2025 launch seems likely given the leaked information.
