The test began with a simple drop test from a tabletop height, which the Switch 2 survived multiple times without issue. However, when the reviewer attempted to break the screen or apply force to the kickstand, the console showed signs of wear and tear.
In a surprising twist, the final blow – a hammer to the screen – proved to be the deciding factor. The switch was smashed beyond repair. While this test is not representative of everyday use, it highlights the importance of proper care and handling for the console.
Nintendo’s official recommendations emphasize keeping the screen on, but even that may not be enough to prevent scratches with a box cutter. In such cases, a tempered screen protector or other protective measures may be necessary.
The Switch 2 launched on June 5th with Mario Kart World as its flagship title, receiving positive critical reviews despite some notable omissions.
