The FDA has issued a recall for Systane Lubricant Eye Drops Ultra PF, which were sold nationwide, including on Amazon and at supermarkets such as Fred Meyer and QFC. The affected product features the lot number 10101 and an expiration date of September 2025.
The recall was triggered by a customer finding a cloudy contaminant that turned out to be fungus in the eye drops. While no adverse effects have been reported, Alcon Laboratories warned that fungal contamination could lead to infection, potentially threatening vision or being life-threatening for individuals with compromised immune systems.
Alcon distributed the eye drops across various channels, including online retailers and in-store shelves at Kroger’s stores, Fred Meyer, and QFC.
To return the affected product, customers can contact Alcon Laboratories directly at 800-241-5999 or visit the place of purchase.
