Systane Eye Drops Recalled Due to Fungal Contamination

A single lot of Alcon’s Systane Lubricant Eye Drops Ultra PF has been voluntarily recalled by the FDA due to potential fungal contamination. The affected eye drops were sold nationwide in stores and online, with a limited expiration date. Consumers who have used the product are advised to stop using it immediately and return it for a replacement or refund. Fungal contaminations of eye products can lead to serious eye infections, including partial or total blindness. No adverse events related to this recall have been reported so far, but Alcon has initiated the voluntary recall as an “abundance of caution.”
