T-Mobile and SpaceX are nearing their goal of bringing satellite communication services to customers by the end of the year. Although the official launch is set for next year, T-Mobile is already testing devices to ensure compatibility with the feature.
Satellite texting promises to revolutionize cellular coverage in areas where traditional services are poor. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted permission for T-Mobile’s Direct Cell service, allowing customers to benefit from extended connectivity.
The company has opened its beta program to select users, who can test the new “Satellite networks” option on their Galaxy S24 or Z Fold 6 devices. Although the feature is currently inactive, it provides insight into how the services will work.
T-Mobile advises users to have a clear view of the sky for optimal satellite service experience and expects limited coverage initially. However, promising results from testing suggest that access to this useful feature is near, particularly for Samsung customers.
