T-Mobile Launches Satellite Internet Service with Elon Musk’s Starlink

T-Mobile is pushing the boundaries of connectivity by partnering with Elon Musk’s Starlink to bring satellite internet service to areas without cell tower coverage. The company’s 60-second Super Bowl ad, “A New Era in Connectivity,” promotes its new service that connects people in unreachable places to cell phone towers.

The T-Mobile Starlink program aims to bridge the digital divide in the US, covering over 500,000 square miles. It already serves tens of thousands of users and has satellites orbiting the globe at 200 miles altitude, mapping 17,000 miles per hour.

T-Mobile’s service targets areas typically considered dead zones, such as rural roads or mountains. The ad emphasizes the importance of access to cell phone service for everyday life, including emergency communications and sharing milestones like having a baby or learning to ride a bike.

The beta launch at the Super Bowl marks a significant shift in T-Mobile’s creative approach, shifting away from traditional celebrity endorsements. While the beta program is free for AT&T and Verizon customers until July, subscribers will need to pay $15 per month for access after the trial ends.
