Take-Two CEO Admits GTA 6 Delay Was Necessary for Perfection

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has acknowledged the delay in Grand Theft Auto 6’s release, citing the need for extra time to polish the game and achieve perfection. In an interview with IGN, Zelnick stated that delays can be painful but emphasized the importance of supporting teams in their pursuit of creative vision.

According to Take-Two Interactive’s investors’ information sheet, GTA 6 only entered full development around 2020, making its release on May 26, 2026, a significant milestone. The game is now expected to hit PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles, with a PC version slated for a later release.

Zelnick acknowledged the game’s high anticipation, citing the massive 500 million views from the recently released trailer within its first few days. With GTA 6 being hailed as the most anticipated entertainment property of all time, Take-Two’s decision to delay the game may be justified in order to deliver a truly exceptional gaming experience.
