Tank Dell Suffers Devastating Knee Injury, Outlook Uncertain

Texans wide receiver Tank Dell suffered extensive damage to his left knee beyond tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and dislocating the entire knee cap during a game against the Kansas City Chiefs. According to coach DeMeco Ryans, Dell also tore his medial collateral and lateral collateral ligaments and sustained damage to his meniscus.

The injury is considered significant, with multiple surgeries required to repair the damage. Former NFL head doctor David Chao stated that the recovery process will be long and complex, with a high risk of it being career-threatening. However, former Browns running back Nick Chubb returned to play after suffering a similar injury.

Ryans declined to discuss Dell’s chances of playing next season, focusing on allowing him time to heal and recover. Quarterback C.J. Stroud expressed his support for Dell, calling the injury “a bump in the road” that won’t end his career.

Dell has faced adversity before, including a broken fibula last year and being shot in the leg during a mass shooting in Florida. Despite this, he posted an inspirational message on social media, saying “I’ll be back.”
