Target will no longer price match products from competitors like Amazon and Walmart starting July 28. The move comes as the retailer seeks to revamp its business, which has been experiencing sales and foot traffic declines.
According to a statement, shoppers “overwhelmingly” prefer Target over other retailers when it comes to price matching. However, Target will continue to match prices for identical items within a 14-day period after purchase.
This decision is part of Target’s efforts to adjust prices in response to the ongoing tariff environment and mitigate its impact. The retailer has been working on various strategies, including negotiating with vendors and changing production locations.
It’s worth noting that other retailers, such as Walmart and Amazon, do not currently offer direct price matching with competitors. Walmart ended its Savings Catcher service in 2019, while Amazon does not match prices from rival online stores.
