Target Ditches Price Matching Policy for Competitors

Target is ending a long-standing practice of price matching for products bought from rivals like Walmart and Amazon. The change takes effect on July 28, according to Retail Dive. The retailer cited that customers mostly rely on the policy to save money, but rather choose Target for its everyday low prices and quality-focused brands.

The new policy covers purchases made at Target stores or online, excluding items sold through third-party vendors on competing websites. However, it requires shoppers to request price matches within 14 days of purchase or at checkout.

Target’s move aligns with Walmart, which ended its price-matching service in 2019, and Amazon, which does not offer the practice at all. The change aims to give Target an edge over competitors and provide customers confidence to choose the retailer for deals.
