Target’s Commercial Unit Employees Must Return to Office 3 Days A Week

Target, the US retail giant, has announced that its commercial unit employees will need to return to the office at least three days a week, starting from September 2. The decision was made by Chief Commercial Officer Rick Gomez in a memo to staff.

According to Target, employees see benefits from in-person connections and collaborations in the office. Individual leaders are now empowered to make decisions based on company guidance and what’s best for their role in the business.

The move comes amid positive sales figures for Target. In the first quarter of 2025, the company reported $23.85 billion in sales, a decrease of 2.8% from the previous year. However, comparable sales increased by 3.8%, driven by a 4.7% rise in online sales.

Target operates nearly 2,000 stores nationwide and employs over 400,000 people worldwide. The company has not disclosed the specific number of employees who will be required to return to the office on a weekly basis.

As part of its digital operations, CBS Minnesota’s Chloe, a digital producer at the station, has worked in various roles since 2015.
