Taylor Swift has finally reclaimed ownership of her master recordings after a long-standing feud with Scooter Braun. The pop star announced the news in an emotional letter, stating she’s been “bursting into tears of joy” since learning she’d regain control over her music from Braun’s company, Ithaca Holdings.
Six years after selling her catalog to Braun’s company in 2019, Swift partnered with private equity firm Shamrock Capital to buy back the rights to her first six albums. The singer expressed gratitude towards Shamrock Capital for handling the deal in an “honest, fair and respectful” manner.
Swift also joked about getting her first tattoo, saying she might get a huge shamrock in the middle of her forehead. However, this seems to be just a lighthearted comment as the singer has previously stated she was opposed to getting tattoos.
Swift’s team credits the successful deal to hard work from Swift herself and Shamrock Capital, not Scooter Braun. The singer’s music was originally sold to Ithaca Holdings in June 2019 after Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Records signed her in 2005.
Swift has been stepping out in style lately, spotted enjoying dinner with friend Selena Gomez in New York City recently.
