Taylor Swift Regains Ownership of Early Albums

Taylor Swift has regained control over the masters of her first six albums after completing the purchase. The singer-songwriter posted a letter on her website announcing that she has acquired the rights to her full-lengths, allowing her to stop re-releasing them.

The move is a significant blow to fans who were eagerly awaiting Reputation (Taylor’s Version), but the original edition benefits greatly from Swift’s control over her music. The 2017 album Reputation shot straight to No. 1 on iTunes rankings worldwide and surged more than 160 spaces to become the top-selling title in America.

Swift’s entire catalog has seen a significant surge on iTunes, with several of her albums now sitting within the top 10. Her self-titled debut currently sits at No. 2, just behind Reputation. The singer-songwriter has already completed the re-recording of her debut and plans to release it at some point.

Swift dominates the iTunes charts, occupying 15 positions on a 200-spot album list. This includes several of her Taylor’s Version releases as well as full-lengths like Evermore and Folklore that were never subject to re-recording.
