Taylor Swift Returns to Billboard 200 Top Spot

Taylor Swift’s album “The Tortured Poets Department” has reclaimed its spot at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking a 16th non-consecutive week at the top. The Grammy-nominated set was previously released in April and saw an increase in sales following its limited physical release of a deluxe edition. In its first full week, “The Tortured Poets Department” logged 405,000 equivalent album units in the US.

Traditional album sales accounted for 368,000 of that sum, surpassing Swift’s own record for the biggest week overall since her debut at No. 1 with 439,000 units. The deluxe edition contributed significantly to these numbers, with vinyl sales at 191,000 and CD sales at 177,000.

This week’s only other chart-debuting release is Juice WRLD’s posthumous album “The Party Never Ends,” which enters the Billboard 200 at No. 4 with 86,000 units and 123 streams. The album was released on November 29, nearly seven years after WRLD’s death in 2019.

As holiday season approaches, festive albums are rising up the charts. Michael BublĂ©’s “Christmas” moves to No. 7, Bing Crosby’s “Ultimate Christmas” reaches No. 9, and Kendrick Lamar’s “GNX” slips to No. 2 with 165,000 units earned in its second week. Other notable releases include Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short n’ Sweet,” Chappell Roan’s “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess,” and Tyler, The Creator’s “Chromakopia.”
