Pop star Taylor Swift played a significant role in her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s new ESPN docuseries, “The Kingdom.” According to director Kristen Lappas, Swift approved all her image and likeness use for the six-part series. She was also described as “very supportive” of the project.
Lappas stated that filmmakers did not interview Swift for the series to keep the focus on the Kansas City Chiefs football franchise. Instead, she appears in the docuseries showcasing her as a fan of the community.
The docuseries primarily focuses on the Chiefs’ 2024 NFL season and features several team members, including Kelce, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, defensive tackle Chris Jones, and coach Andy Reid.
Swift’s allegiance to the project is no surprise, given her support for the Super Bowl-winning team since dating Kelce in 2023. She often attends games across the US and has become a huge fan of the sport.
In recent interviews, Swift revealed how she went from knowing little about football to becoming an avid fan with Kelce’s help. The pop star expressed her excitement and knowledge of game strategies, including injury reports and special situations.
The relationship is supportive in both directions, as Kelce has also attended Swift’s concerts and identified as a fan of hers.
