TCL has released a new tablet with its Nxtpaper display technology, which is designed to be easy on the eyes like e-paper screens. The Tab 8 is an 8-inch device that runs Android 15 and features a screen that can switch between color and black-and-white modes.
This tablet could tempt people away from color screen e-readers like the Kindle Colorsoft, which don’t offer the flexibility of Android. However, the Tab 8 uses an upgraded LCD panel, offering better color reproduction compared to some e-readers.
The TCL Tab 8 Nxtpaper 5G tablet is currently available exclusively through Verizon for $199.99 and will soon be available at Total Wireless stores. It’s priced lower than some of TCL’s Nxtpaper smartphones and the Kindle Colorsoft.
The display technology, called Nxtpaper, features a fine pattern on the glass screen that reduces glare and reflections. The screen also minimizes blue light emission and flickering when brightness is reduced. Users can toggle between full color, monochromatic black-and-white, or warmer tones for reading.
The Tab 8 has an octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage (expandable up to 2TB), 5G connectivity, an 8MP rear camera, a 5MP front camera, stereo speakers, and a large 6,000mAh battery that lasts up to 16 hours.
