Team Cherry’s head of marketing and publishing, Matthew Griffin, has confirmed the development progress and release status of Hollow Knight: Silksong. The game, announced in February 2019, has sparked much anticipation among fans, with many waiting over half a decade for its release.
Initially, Team Cherry provided few details about the title, fueling speculation about its release window. Some fans believe that Hollow Knight: Silksong may launch alongside the Switch 2, while others hope for an update in February 2025, coinciding with the game’s original announcement date.
In a recent tweet, Griffin stated that Hollow Knight: Silksong “is real, progressing, and will release.” While no further details were provided, this statement has brought new hope to fans who had lost patience over the years. The game is expected to be much larger than its predecessor, with over 100 checkpoints and around 165 new enemies.
Team Cherry’s confirmation comes after a lengthy wait, during which some fans had speculated about the game’s development status. However, a playtester in June 2024 disputed these claims, stating that Hollow Knight: Silksong remains in active development.
With Griffin’s statement, hopes are high that more news about the project will be revealed soon. The game is currently expected to release sometime in 2025, although an exact date has not been confirmed yet.
