Senator Ted Cruz accused fellow Republicans of being “frightened” to criticize Tucker Carlson, saying they are too afraid to speak out against his divisive views. The conservative pundit recently hosted avowed white supremacist Nick Fuentes on his podcast, sparking widespread outrage and leading to the resignation of multiple staff members at The Heritage Foundation.
Cruz, who has been a vocal critic of Carlson’s platforming of extremist ideologies, called on Republicans to “stand up and say it is wrong” when they witness hate speech or bigotry. He argued that many of his colleagues are too intimidated by Carlson’s large following to denounce him publicly.
In contrast, Cruz said he would not hesitate to speak out against Fuentes, even if it means challenging one of his own colleagues. “It’s easy right now to denounce Fuentes,” Cruz added. “Are you willing to say Tucker’s name?”
