Phil Dunster, who played Jamie Tartt in the hit comedy series “Ted Lasso,” is leaving the show as a series regular due to a conflicting project with Steve Carell’s new HBO comedy. However, it is unclear if he will make appearances in Season 4.
According to reports, Dunster signed on for an untitled new HBO comedy alongside Carell and will not be returning as Jamie Tartt. The post has reached out to Dunster for comment, but no information has been provided.
Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Jeremy Swift, and Brendan Hunt are set to reprise their roles in Season 4, which is currently in production in Kansas City. Several new cast members have joined the show, including Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely.
Feely will play Ted’s son, Henry, replacing Gus Turner who previously played the role. The series has begun production on a new storyline, which follows Ted coaching a second-division women’s football team.
Newcomer Jude Mack is set to join the cast alongside Dunster. Although the show was initially supposed to end in 2023, it was confirmed that Season 4 would proceed with Sudeikis and Waddingham returning as main characters.
The series has been praised for its positive portrayal of a fish-out-of-water story featuring American football coach Ted Lasso, who coaches an English football team on a losing streak. With the new season’s storyline focusing on women’s soccer, fans are excited to see where the show goes from here.
