A 16-year-old boy from Fresno, Maxwell Thompson, was tragically killed Thursday morning after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing northbound Highway 99. Authorities say he attempted to cross the highway’s center divider and was hit by a Toyota Tacoma traveling in the far-right lane. Despite efforts to save him, Thompson died at the scene. The CHP has extended its condolences to his family and expressed concern about the risks pedestrians face on freeways.
