Teenage Engineering’s Free Computer Chassis is Sold Out

Teenage Engineering, a Swedish tech/design brand, has given away its cheapest computer case, the Computer-2, for free. However, it has already sold out, leaving many enthusiasts eager to get their hands on this affordable option.

The Computer-2 was designed with one goal in mind: to be the cheapest computer case in the world. Its makers achieved this by creating a minimalist design made from a single sheet of semi-transparent plastic. The snap hooks and living hinges make assembly screw-free, making it easy to build a compact PC.

This DIY-friendly case can accommodate mini-ITX motherboards, SFX power supplies, and dual-slot graphics cards up to 180mm in size. However, no other PC components are included, which is expected given the low price point.

The Computer-2 is not Teenage Engineering’s first foray into affordable computer hardware. Its predecessor, the Computer-1, was released in 2021 and featured a similar design-led approach but with a higher price tag. The new case is limited to one per person, and registration on the company’s website can help fans stay informed about any future stock.

As of now, it seems that this was a limited release, and Teenage Engineering has sold out of its initial stock. It remains to be seen whether they plan to keep the Computer-2 in stock or if it will become a rare, collectible item.
