Tennessee Reports First Measles Case This Year

Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Health has confirmed its first measles case in Middle Tennessee this year. A resident with no identifying information provided is currently recovering at home after contracting the illness in early March. Authorities are investigating the likely source and seeking to identify anyone who may have been exposed.

The US is experiencing a nationwide measles outbreak, with over 300 cases reported across 11 states, including two deaths. Health officials urge those affected to consult their medical providers about prevention measures, particularly noting that two doses of the MMR vaccine can effectively prevent measles.

Residents are advised to report suspected cases immediately to the Tennessee Department of Health at (615) 741-7247.
