The Tennessee Titans have fired general manager Ran Carthon after finishing 3-14 this season, earning the No. 1 pick in the 2025 draft. The team’s controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk stated that the poor win-loss record over the past two years cannot be ignored and expressed her disappointment.
Brian Callahan will continue as head coach, while president of football operations Chad Brinker will lead the search for the next general manager. According to Brinker, the ideal candidate should have experience scouting college players and projecting them to the NFL, with a proven track record in a consistent winning organization.
The Titans want a GM who partners closely with the existing head coach, and Brinker stated that he has “final authority” on roster decisions despite sharing responsibilities with the new GM. The team’s CEO Burke Nihill emphasized Amy Adams Strunk’s desire for clarity in the football organization, with Chad Brinker being the leader of the program.
Colorado coach Deion Sanders reacted to the announcement, and Carthon was hired as the franchise’s first Black general manager in 2023 after the Titans fired Jon Robinson. Tennessee lost seven consecutive games and fell out of the playoffs during that period. The team has a dismal record over the past two years, with Callahan’s first season being the worst since 2015.
Brinker praised Callahan, stating that he is self-reflective about his mistakes and understands that improvement is needed, not just for himself but also his staff and organization as a whole.
