The Vancouver International Auto Show has removed Tesla from its annual event due to concerns over safety, particularly for attendees, exhibitors, and staff. According to Eric Nicholl, the show’s executive director, “the primary concern is the safety of all who attend” and he cited protests and vandalism against the company as a reason.
Protests and demonstrations have been occurring in parts of Canada, with some individuals targeting Tesla dealerships and vehicles, including shooting at one dealership in Oregon. Similar incidents have also occurred in Massachusetts and Nevada. Attorney General Pam Bondi has described the attacks on Tesla property as “nothing short of domestic terrorism.”
Tesla was given multiple opportunities to voluntarily withdraw from the event but chose not to do so. The company’s CEO, Elon Musk, has denied any wrongdoing and accused vandals of targeting his company.
The Vancouver Auto Show is an annual premier automotive experience in Western Canada and is expected to feature various manufacturers and businesses showcasing their products.
