Tesla Charging Stations Vandalized in North Charleston Arrest Made

A 24-year-old man from the Lowcountry has been arrested in connection with burning three Tesla charging stations near Tanger Outlets in North Charleston, according to a newly released affidavit. Daniel Brendan Clarke-Pounder was arrested on federal charges after responding to reports of suspected arson at Mellow mushroom on March 7.

Witnesses reported seeing Clark-Pounder vandalize a parking spot using red spray paint before lighting beer bottles and throwing them at the charging stations. He then fled on foot towards Zaxby’s restaurant. The North Charleston Police Department collected evidence from the scene, which matched components of a homemade incendiary device.

Surveillance footage led investigators to Clark-Pounder’s vehicle, where they found matching cloth strips. Warrants for his arrest were obtained on March 13, and he was arrested the same day. Clark-Pounder is currently being held at Al Cannon Detention Center.
