Tesla has been rolling out its latest Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised version, v12.5, to vehicles with the newer HW4 computer. This week, those with HW3-equipped vehicles should receive the update, although CEO Elon Musk said on Saturday that the team is still working on it.
Musk explained that the FSD Supervised version going out to HW3 vehicles will have a different release number than v12.5.1.3, which started rolling out on Friday. This new version includes many improvements and is expected to be available for most Tesla vehicles with HW3 computers.
The update was initially released for Model Y units with HW4 computers, but the estimated rollout for FSD Supervised v12.5 to HW3 vehicles was around 10 days ago. Musk said that it takes considerable software effort to optimize the code enough to run on HW3 and needs to be validated separately.
FSD v12.5 also features improvements like a combined highway and city stacks into a single stack, driver monitoring, and allows drivers to wear sunglasses without being nagged. Additionally, this version will bundle with the release of Actual Smart Summon, although it’s technically a separate code.
Note: HW3- and HW4-equipped vehicles make up most Tesla vehicles on the road.
