Tesla has released a software update to address a recall affecting approximately 376,241 vehicles due to an issue with the electronic power steering assist. The problem can cause temporary loss of power steering when the vehicle stops and then accelerates, increasing the risk of a crash at low speeds.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has warned that this issue can lead to increased steering effort, posing a safety concern for drivers. To resolve the problem, Tesla will send free software updates to owners via over-the-air updates. Owners can expect official notification letters by March 25.
As of Thursday’s closing price, Tesla shares fell 1.71% to $191.34.
