The requests come amid a rise in reports of Teslas being set ablaze, vandalized showrooms, and keying incidents resulting in costly damages. Many owners believe they are being targeted due to their association with Musk’s political views.
The feature could alert potential perpetrators by honking the car or displaying flashing lights, which would deter them from committing vandalism. However, current security measure Sentry Mode only records suspicious behavior but doesn’t actively prevent it. Tesla owners have expressed concern that this lack of protection leaves them vulnerable to attacks.
