Tesla Owners Warned as Vandalism Spikes Across US

Tesla owners across the US are being warned by law enforcement agencies following a surge in vandalism incidents targeting the electric vehicle brand. In at least nine states, including Texas and Houston, reports of attacks on Teslas have increased significantly, with some perpetrators targeting owners due to CEO Elon Musk’s involvement in cryptocurrency and politics.

The FBI has issued a public warning, urging Tesla owners to remain vigilant, particularly when traveling or parking their vehicles. The rise in incidents is partly attributed to the current political climate, where individuals are vandalizing cars believed to belong to Tesla owners who support Musk’s views.

Recent footage obtained from a victim’s Tesla camera system shows a man following her car and vandalizing it while she was shopping at Whole Foods. The incident has left the owner feeling insecure about driving her Tesla, forcing her to keep her identity hidden for safety reasons.

The FBI suggests that these attacks are linked to a response against Musk’s political influence. With over 1.4% of all vehicles traded in through mid-March being Teslas from 2017 and newer, the trend has raised concerns about the safety of car owners nationwide.

Law enforcement agencies are investigating these incidents, with the FBI and ATF working together to address the issue. The Houston Police Department is also looking into a specific case of local Tesla vandalism. Owners are advised to report any suspicious behavior near their vehicles, and those who recognize the man in the video footage are encouraged to contact the authorities.

As the situation continues to unfold, Tesla owners are urged to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety while driving or parking their vehicles.
