Tesla is recalling almost 700,000 vehicles due to a problem with the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light. The recall affects certain models of the Cybertruck, Model 3, and Model Y, produced between 2020 and 2025.
The issue occurs when the TPMS warning light stops illuminating after driving cycles, failing to alert drivers to low tire pressure. Driving with underinflated tires can increase the risk of a crash. To fix this problem, Tesla is providing a free software update.
Owner notification letters will be mailed on February 15, 2025. Individuals can also contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752 for more information or call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit their website at nhtsa.gov.
This is not the first recall of the year for Tesla, which has issued seven recalls, including a recent issue with hoods that could increase crash risk. The company delivered its first Cybertruck to customers in November 2023, two years behind schedule.
