Tesla Recalls Nearly All Cybertruck Models Over Safety Concerns

Tesla has issued its largest-ever recall for the Cybertruck model, affecting over 46,000 vehicles made since November 2023. The issue is related to a stainless-steel exterior trim panel that can delaminate and detach from the vehicle, posing a road hazard risk.

The problem was first reported in January by Tesla and has now been confirmed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). According to Tesla, about 150 claims have been received by drivers regarding the issue, but no accidents caused by the problem have been reported. The company will replace the affected panel free of charge.

This latest recall comes as Tesla faces falling sales and a backlash against its CEO Elon Musk. The firm’s shares have dropped nearly 40% since January, erasing gains after the 2024 US election. Analysts say the issue is part of a “tornado crisis” for Tesla, with brand damage from Musk’s political role adding to existing challenges.

The Cybertruck was initially marketed as a way to revitalize the brand and break into the lucrative pickup truck market in the US, but has struggled to gain traction.
