Tesla Takedown Movement Protests Musk’s Government Role

Demonstrators gathered at over 50 Tesla showrooms across the US on Saturday, protesting CEO Elon Musk’s role in slashing government agencies under President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency.

The protests are part of “Tesla Takedown,” a movement aiming to sell Teslas, dump stock, and join picket lines. Actor Alex Winter, one of the main organizers, wants to create a vote of no confidence among shareholders against Musk.

Musk has faced criticism for his involvement in government, including mass layoffs and dismantling agencies. The movement is also gaining traction internationally, with protests scheduled in London, Lisbon, and Reykjavik.

Protesters say they’re seeking to impact Tesla’s value by reducing its sales, which would hurt Musk’s net worth. However, some experts believe the movement might have limited effect, as sales are influenced by various factors beyond Musk’s involvement.

Despite this, the protests demonstrate a growing divide between Tesla owners and potential buyers, who may be separating the company from Musk due to his government role. With global sales declining for the first time in 12 years, Tesla faces increased competition from other electric vehicle makers.
