Tesla to Vote on AI Startup Investment as Shares Fall

Tesla’s Board of Directors will vote on whether to invest in Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI, the billionaire revealed in a social media post. This move comes after xAI recently raised $10 billion at a valuation of $200 billion. The investment would be significant, given xAI has already acquired other companies and secured funding from various investors, including Sequoia Capital and Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal.

As Tesla’s publicly traded status may complicate the decision, it follows recent concerns among shareholders about Musk’s priorities and leadership role in multiple companies. The billionaire had previously pushed back on the idea of a potential Tesla-xAI merger. Despite this, xAI has rapidly grown its investment portfolio, with shares now valued at $24 billion after a $6 billion funding round last May.

The company will hold its annual shareholder meeting on November 6 to consider the proposal. This move may boost Musk’s efforts to compete with AI leaders like OpenAI and Meta as he pushes for xAI’s growth.
