Tesla’s Cybertruck Sales Plummet Despite Incentives

Tesla has confirmed that its delivery numbers for the highly anticipated Cybertruck have taken a significant hit, despite offering federal tax credits and discounts. The company announced a recall of all Cybertrucks produced since late 2023 and revealed that it delivered only around 7,000-8,000 units in Q1 2025, down from 10,000-12,000 in the previous two quarters.

This decline is particularly concerning given that the Cybertruck recently gained access to a $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles. Additionally, Tesla has been offering free Supercharger and subsidized financing rates, which could have boosted sales. However, it appears that these incentives are not enough to stem the decline in deliveries.

The main issue facing the Cybertruck program seems to be demand rather than production capacity. Tesla had set up production at Gigafactory Texas to produce 250,000 units per year, according to Elon Musk. However, the company is struggling to sell just 40,000 units of the truck so far.

Tesla’s new RWD model, expected to start at $61,000 later this year, may help improve sales. However, even with a lower starting price and potentially improved marketing efforts, it remains to be seen whether the Cybertruck can regain its footing in the market.
