The solar system consists of our sun and eight planets, which are divided into three subcategories: rocky inner planets, gas giants, and ice giants. The rocky inner planets include Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, while the gas giants are Jupiter and Saturn. The outermost planets are Uranus and Neptune.
A notable change occurred when Pluto was reclassified as no longer a planet in 2006. This decision was made to better define what constitutes a planet.
