Texas Grid to Need 30 Reactors’ Worth of Power by 2030

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas predicts that by 2030, its power grid will need an additional 30 nuclear plants’ worth of electricity to meet the growing demand from new data centers, primarily driven by the increasing use of artificial intelligence. This forecast has raised concerns about whether the state’s infrastructure can expand quickly enough and at what cost.
