Texas Janitor Sentenced 6 Years in Prison for Spreading STDs

A former janitor in Houston, Texas, has been sentenced to six years in prison for intentionally infecting several women with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) while working at a local doctor’s office. Lucio Diaz, 53, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was found to have infected three women with STDs in 2022.

According to court records, investigators discovered the janitor’s actions after a woman noticed an unusual taste and smell in the water supplied at the office. She began bringing her own bottled water to work, only to find that it too had a similar issue. A hidden camera set up by one of the affected women revealed Diaz intentionally contaminating the water with his bodily fluids.

Diaz was infected with chlamydia and herpes at the time of the incident and has apologized for his actions. His attorney stated that Diaz accepted responsibility for his behavior and did not want to put the complainants through a trial process. The incident highlights the importance of maintaining proper hygiene and safety protocols in workplaces, particularly those handling bodily fluids.
