The Texas Longhorns are heading to their first Final Four appearance since 2003, thanks to a thrilling Elite Eight victory over No. 2 seed TCU on Monday night. Led by SEC Player of the Year Madison Booker and Rori Harmon’s impressive 13 points and five assists, Texas dominated the game with a score of 58-47.
Booker led the charge, scoring 18 points and grabbing six rebounds, while Harmon reflected on her own journey, returning from an ACL injury in just 10 months. “I was thinking about what I’ve been through as a player,” she said, “to see us get to the Final Four… it’s an amazing thing.”
The win marks Texas’ fourth regional final appearance in five years, with their previous losses coming against South Carolina (2021), Stanford (2022), and NC State (2024). Fifth-year senior starter Shay Holle was thrilled to finally pass the Elite Eight test, saying “it means everything” to her team.
TCU’s Sedona Prince and Hailey Van Lith, who both ended their college careers with impressive performances, are expected to be drafted in April. The Longhorns will face conference regular-season co-champion South Carolina on Friday in the national semifinals.
Coach Vic Schaefer, now in his 22nd season at Texas, is making history as the fifth head coach in women’s NCAA tournament history to take multiple schools to the Final Four. “I think he deserves it,” said Booker, praising Schaefer’s dedication and hard work.
