Texas’ Madison Booker Leads Team to First Final Four in 20 Years

Texas Longhorns wing Madison Booker proved why she’s a sport’s biggest star despite being just a sophomore, leading her team to their first Final Four appearance in 20 years with an Elite Eight victory over TCU.

In Monday’s 58-47 win, Booker scored a game-high 18 points and six rebounds, playing all but two minutes of the game. Her trademark mid-range jumper was on display as she helped Texas move on to face top-seeded South Carolina in the Final Four.

TCU, which had never made it past the Sweet 16 before, struggled with turnovers, finishing the game with 21. The Horned Frogs’ star guard Hailey Van Lith missed seven of her first eight shots and finished with 17 points, but couldn’t overcome the team’s inability to capitalize on those turnovers.

Texas’ success was also aided by the contributions of sophomore post Kyla Oldacre, who provided a boost off the bench. Oldacre had nine points, five rebounds, and two steals in just over 10 minutes of play.

The Longhorns’ victory marks their first Final Four appearance since 2003 and is the program’s 35th win of the season, setting a new record for the team.
