A series of last-minute filings has shaken up top Tarrant County races ahead of the 2026 primary election in Texas. Fort Worth Congressman Marc Veasey filed to run for Tarrant County Judge, challenging Republican incumbent Tim O’Hare. This move sets up a high-profile Democratic primary between Veasey and Commissioner Alisa Simmons.
The March ballot includes multiple county commissioners’ seats, Texas House districts, two Senate positions, and various local offices. Notable candidates include Lydia Bean, who dropped out of the county judge race but is now running for county clerk; Tony Tinderholt and Lucila Seri seeking the Republican nomination for Tarrant County Commissioner, Precinct 2; and incumbent Phil Sorrells facing Democratic challenger Tiffany Burks in the Criminal District Attorney primary.
The filing period closed on December 8, with some positions not up for election until May. The March ballot features a mix of incumbents and newcomers vying for office across various Tarrant County races.
