The dream of bringing Frank Herbert’s iconic novel “Dune” to life on screen has proven elusive for decades. David Lynch’s 1984 attempt, although ambitious, fell short in both critical and commercial success. However, the idea itself has always captivated audiences.
Alejandro Jodorowsky’s vision, captured in the documentary “Jodorowsky’s Dune,” is widely regarded as the most fascinating iteration. This theoretical film would have featured Pink Floyd’s music, groundbreaking visual effects by Dan O’Bannon and H.R. Giger, and a star-studded cast including Salvador DalĂ, Orson Welles, Mick Jagger, and Udo Kier.
Unfortunately, funding was withdrawn due to Jodorowsky’s grandiose plans, making this project a fascinating footnote in cinematic history.
