The Forgotten Workstations: Apollo’s Legacy in Vintage Computing

Ever heard of Apollo Computer, Inc.? They were one of the first graphical workstation vendors in the 1980s, competing with Sun Microsystems. Let’s dive into this vintage computing charm! A full-color, 26-page product brochure from 1988 features the Series 10000 “Personal Supercomputer,” which showcased multiple processors and a unique glimpse into Apollo’s offerings and target markets.

Apollo produced their own hardware and software, making much of it proprietary. They were acquired by Hewlett-Packard in 1989 and eventually shut down over the next decade or so. If you’re intrigued, [Jim Rees] from The Apollo Archive is your go-to source for all things Apollo-related.
