EA’s re-release of The Sims and The Sims 2, part of the “Legacy Collection,” has left fans disappointed. The games were initially released on Steam with minor patches, but players have reported issues such as launch failures, crashes, and graphical problems.
The lack of basic features like achievements or Steam Cloud support is also noticeable. Although the original assets are preserved, this does not excuse the subpar presentation. As a company with significant resources, EA should meet minimum expectations for re-releases on modern platforms.
A reliable run on contemporary machines and platform features like cloud saves or achievements are essential demands for any re-release. Given the importance and beloved status of The Sims, it’s surprising that EA did not meet these standards.
