Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has made a surprise return to WWE, leaving fans wondering what’s in store for their favorite wrestling superstar. On February 20, Johnson teased his comeback on X, saying he was “coming to f— up someone’s life.” He confirmed the news by attending WWE SmackDown on February 21, which will air live from New Orleans.
According to WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Levesque, The Rock could have a huge impact on WrestleMania 41, taking place in Las Vegas in April. Levesque warned that when The Final Boss shows up, “anything is possible,” and the audience knows everything can change instantly.
Johnson hinted at a showdown with an unnamed WWE superstar on Instagram, promising to deliver a big gift to New Orleans and make things personal for someone. Rumors persist that Johnson could announce a new location for WrestleMania 42 in 2026 during his appearance on SmackDown.
This return marks The Rock’s first wrestling appearance since January 2024, when he briefly returned to the ring to celebrate his cousin Roman Reigns’ victory. Johnson has been focused on his acting career for the past 15 years and recently signed on to star with Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s next movie.
The Rock’s return coincides with John Cena’s retirement tour, which will run through the end of 2025. WrestleMania 41 is set to take place at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on April 19-20, and fans are eagerly awaiting The Rock’s impact on the event.
