Sofronio Vasquez, a 32-year-old Utica resident and Mindanao native, is set to find out if he’s the champion of Season 26 of “The Voice.” The finale airs on NBC at 9 p.m. Tuesday night.
Vasquez, who moved to Utica in mid-last year, has formed strong bonds with his coach Michael Bublé and fans, stating that it feels like he was born and raised in Utica. He’s grateful for the support of his community and hopes it will translate into votes.
Despite facing skepticism due to his background story, Vasquez wants to win because of his music. He attributes his success to being true to himself and sharing his experiences through song. If he wins, he’ll get a recording deal, tour, and be the face of The Voice 2024.
Vasquez will perform a duet with Bublé on the finale, singing “Who’s Lovin’ You?” on Tuesday night. He hopes America will vote for him but also wants to win because of his passion for music. A Utica resident by heart, Vasquez is excited to return home and celebrate with his family after the finale.
