Singer-songwriter The Weeknd has postponed his upcoming concert at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California, due to the ongoing wildfires that have devastated the greater Los Angeles area. He also announced the delay of his latest album release.
The concert was originally scheduled for January 25 but was cancelled and rescheduled for January 31, 2025. The Weeknd expressed his condolences and sympathy towards the people affected by the fires. He stated that he is postponing the album’s release to the same date.
Wildfires started on January 7 and have already destroyed over 12,000 structures and placed 150,000 people under evacuation orders. At least 25 people have lost their lives in the disaster.
Other events in California, including movie premieres and industry gatherings, have also been postponed due to the wildfires. The Academy has pushed back its announcement of Oscar nominations until January 23.
A production alert from Film LA noted that filming is suspended in areas affected by the fires. Local authorities and first responders are working hard to contain the situation and support those affected.
