‘The Wizard of Oz’ and New Film Coming to Las Vegas Sphere

Sphere Entertainment has announced two immersive experiences for its 516-foot-wide spherical venue in Las Vegas. The first, a reimagined version of “The Wizard of Oz,” will debut on August 28th, 2025, utilizing the venue’s massive 160,000 square foot screen and cutting-edge technologies to enhance the original film.

In collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery, Google, and Magnopus, Sphere Entertainment aims to maintain the integrity of the classic while pushing its experiential medium. Although a 4K HDR restoration was previously released in 2020, the venue’s high-resolution screen has over 16,000 pixels and can recreate environmental elements like heat, wind, and scents for an immersive experience.

Another production, “From The Edge,” is set to premiere in 2026. Directed by Academy Award-winning directors Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin (“Free Solo”), the film will feature elite athletes such as rock climber Alex Honnold and others. Filming locations include Jordan, Dubai, Switzerland, and other spots worldwide.
