Thick Fog Disrupts Life in Northern India for Days

A thick blanket of fog has engulfed Delhi and surrounding areas in northern India, causing travel disruptions and chaos. Over 100 flights at the Delhi airport were delayed on Friday morning, while dozens of trains have been rescheduled or are running late.

India’s weather department expects the foggy conditions to last for several days. This time of year is notorious for dense fog in Delhi due to an intense cold wave. Several airports in northern India experienced zero visibility on Friday morning, including the one in Delhi.

The Delhi airport has issued a warning to passengers, advising them of significant flight delays. Airlines have also urged travelers to check their flight schedules before planning their journeys. The weather department considers fog “dense” if visibility drops below 200m and “very dense” if it falls below 50m.

Temperatures are expected to drop further with light to moderate rainfall forecast for January 6, making the situation even more challenging.
